Press Release: China’s UHV Projects Accelerate, Driving Global Energy Interconnection
China is accelerating the construction of Ultra-High Voltage (UHV) transmission projects in 2024, including new ±800kV DC lines such as Gansu-Zhejiang and Tibet-Greater Bay Area, to boost renewable energy integration and cross-regional power allocation. Completed projects like Baihetan-Jiangsu/Zhejiang demonstrate China’s global leadership in UHV technology. State Grid and China Southern Power Grid will invest over 2 trillion yuan in the next five years to build a “9 DC, 13 AC” UHV grid, supporting carbon neutrality goals.
